Chelsea reserve player Jacob Mellis is trialing at Burnley

There was an incident at Cobham last week that saw Jacob Mellis and Billy Clifford get themselves in serious trouble when they set off a smoke grenade inside of the training grounds. If today's reserve action was any indication, the club may in fact be preparing to cut ties with the players. Jacob Mellis was in action for the Burnley reserves today where he's reportedly on trial with the club. He played about 70 minutes today and was impressive by all reports.

While neither club has issued any sort of statement yet, the Chelsea heirarchy were reportedly furious with the two over the smoke grenade incident. With both being fringy prospects it really is beginning to seem likely that they may be making their way out on a permanent basis. This situation will bear watching, and we'll make sure to keep you informed as we find out more.
