Petr Cech had to leave today's game at halftime, and we're just now hearing that the move was due to an injury. Dan Levene has a quote from Rafa on the goalkeeper:
Benitez on Cech injury: "He felt something. We don't want to take any risks. We'll have to do a scan and see what it is." Thigh problem.— Dan Levene (@BluesChronicle) December 30, 2012
Obviously we'll all be hoping that this is nothing serious, but the timing really could have been a lot worse if it is. While nobody would likely be overly comfortable with the idea of playing Ross Turnbull every day, we do have a pretty good young keeper out on loan that we could recall should the need arise.
At this point there is no reason to believe this is going to be a long term injury, and hopefully the scans are simply precautionary. With that said, we should all probably keep our fingers crossed anyway. Get well soon Petr, playing Turnbull scares me.
