Well well well. Sky Sports are apparently reporting (I don't get Sky Sports, but since everyone is screaming this in my general direction, we'll run with it) something very interesting: Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is meeting with Chelsea this evening to discuss terms.
Ba, if you'll recall, has a £7 million release clause and is something of a goal machine, having found the net 29 times in his one-and-a-half seasons with the Magpies, and with Daniel Sturridge heading to Liverpool in early January it seems pretty clear that Michael Emenalo would have to make a move quickly to recover some of that depth at centre forward. Picking up a striker on a very cheap buyout would certainly fit the bill.
No, he's not young and he won't have any value in a few years, but he will score plenty of goals and should serve as a wonderful bridge to the Romelu Lukaku era. And he's cheap enough that we won't have to worry about overspending, either. This just makes far too much sense to pass up. Do it Chelsea.
