A thought's been nagging at me for a couple days now and like the dog whimpering at the back door, it needs letting out. Here it goes: I kind of want Chelsea to win this trophy. And by kind of, I mean definitely. Seriously. There, I said it.
I know it's a silly competition (understatement!) but now that the team's in it, let's win it, yeah? In it to win it! Wow, that's so cliche. But let's do it. Easy money. All jokes aside of the new manager and his love affair with this thing, let's win it anyway. Notch that belt, add that trophy. Do it.
A season that has started out so tremendously fun - following on from the ultimate high last May - has really gone south for me over the last month or two. A run of bad results led to something tragic and all early season promise and happiness has been lost. No, I'm not saying that the season itself is lost. Third is and should remain a realistic goal. Maybe even second, should Manchester City manage to bumble along as well. The Europa League will provide competition and perhaps even glory. And there's the FA Cup, too, which they probably should just let Chelsea keep forever and ever.
What I am saying is that I am feeling down - the winter blues, if you will (hat-tip to whoever I stole this from). I got a fever and the only prescription is more trophies. More trophies!
This also applies to the League Cup, too, by the way. Now that Arsenal have been hilariously eliminated, Chelsea are far and away the best team left. There's absolutely zero reason Chelsea should not be winning the League Cup this season. Easy money. More trophies! Fever! Trophies! I gotta have more trophies!
Chelsea's Club World Cup semifinal vs. CF Monterrey (who are technically the "home" team) starts in just a few hours. Three hours of sleep awaits. Happiness awaits.
