Transfer rumour season is a fun season. It's also a rather silly one. Earlier this week, we had reports out of Serbia suggesting that Partizan Belgrade midfielder Lazar Markovic was on his way to Chelsea in January, but now his agent is denying that he'll be moving on soon.

Markovic has a contract with Partizan until 2016. Away in January? I can assure you that he will not leave in the next transfer windows. Then we'll see. Inter Milan interested? Until now no Italian club have contacted me, so I have not talked to any Inter official.

Markovic is one of the elite prospects in European football, and I think most Chelsea fans familiar with him were looking forward to the idea of acquiring him. I'd be surprised if the denial meant much of anything, though -- seems more like agent speak for 'give us lots of money or he's going nowhere', and negotiations would at this point be between teams rather than directly with players or their representatives
