Catalan radio station RAC1 is reporting that Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has suffered an ACL injury, and that the recovery from this injury will see him missing the remainder of the 2012/13 season. We'll toss it over to one of our favorites on the Chelsea beat, Dan Levene (who is a must follow for those of you on twitter):
Report from Span (RAC-1 via Marca) Oriol Romeu torn anterior cruciate ligament. No official confirmation, but if so will miss rest of season
— Dan Levene (@BluesChronicle) December 10, 2012
This news absolutely needs to be taken with more than just a grain of salt at this point, as there is no news from England about the injury at all. Now that it is being reported in Spain though, it's certainly going to be something that the club is asked questions about by those that make a living covering Chelsea.
While always skeptical of anything reported by the Spanish media, the fact that both Chelsea's first team and most of those covering them have been dealing with travel half way around the world would make it a bit more logical that this would have slipped by the usual sources. With that said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was typical garbage out of Spain. Stay tuned...
