Roberto di Matteo sacked

It's happened. Robbie's fallen on his sword after a push from above. Welcome to Hell, guys. This isn't going to be a fun few weeks.

Mike Hewitt

Roberto di Matteo's Chelsea tenure is at an end. It's perhaps unsurprising at this stage given the club's perilous position in the Champions League, but it's still a shock. I think I speak for every Chelsea fan in saying that we wish him well in his future endeavours elsewhere, and that he'll always be a legend here. He is, after all, the man who brought us that fantastic big-eared trophy we've longed for.

Little is known at this stage besides the fact that he's gone, but we'll try to get any information to you as we get it. Speculation is rife about a possible successor, but it's simply that, speculation. As I said, we'll get you any news as soon as it's available to us. Let's just take some time to remember what Robbie did for us just over six months ago, and appreciate it. It'll also help us ignore those outside the club with the usual tripe following the sadly-common occurence of a Chelsea manager being sacked. It's a sad day to be a Blue, guys.

UPDATE: The club have released a statement
