Wilfried Bony comments on Chelsea speculation

Wilfried Bony was asked about the link to Chelsea on Tuesday, and he didn't rock the boat with his response.

Chelsea have been repeatedly linked to Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony in recent weeks, and any regular readers of WAGNH probably know that this makes me very happy indeed. The striker had some comments for the media today when asked about the link, which I'll highlight for you below:

"It's not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it's great isn't it? But seriously, if they want me, it would be a great honor. I would be glad to go to such a club."

"I love English football and wouldn't be afraid to play there. Chelsea are a top club. If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not? We'll see what happens."

"At the moment I want to be playing as well as I can for Vitesse. I know that Chelsea and Arnhem are close and some of the Chelsea lads are here on loan, including Tomas (Kalas). I have discussed it with him many times already."

It's a very "don't rock the boat" type of answer, but it's nice to know that he would like to play in England. It's always nice to know that players would relish the opportunity to join Chelsea, although I think at some point it's got to be expected.

I'd imagine we'll continue to find ourselves linked to strikers until the close of the January window, as is the nature of the transfer rumor mill when a top club have an extremely obvious hole to fill. Who knows though, there's always hope that a fee can be agreed quietly before the window ever opens, as was the case last season with Gary Cahill.
