Conor Clifford returns to Chelsea FC

According to a release from Yeovill Town, Conor Clifford has ended his loan at the League One side after 8 starts and 1 substitute cameo. Clifford was impressive overall during his time away, so it's somewhat surprising to see his loan not extended for the remainder of the season. There is no word yet from Chelsea FC as to what the immediate future holds for the Irish international, but after a very successful spell on loan I wouldn't be surprised to see the club looking for a little higher level club to let the youngster try his hand at for the spring.

Clifford has now completed loans at Plymouth Argyle, Notts County, and Yeovil Town. He's looked better in each successive loan spell and a few months spent at the Championship level might be an interesting indicator as to where he's at in his development. He'll clearly be better served on loan than he will with more reserve action, so hopefully he'll have a new temporary home shortly. For any of you who may be wondering, Clifford is under contract with the club until 2014. Well done at Yeovil Conor, and welcome back for now.
