Welp, it's done.
Baguettes & Brioche
After months of exile, Alex is once again on the verge of relevance. His protracted transfer saga has come to a close, with PSG concluding a deal to acquire the defender for 4 million quid. After turning down the chance to ply his trade at QPR, that massive club, he elected to reunite with former gaffer Carlo Ancelotti and take his talents to the Champs Elysses.
No news has surfaced yet as to his wages, but you can bet that PSG had the requisite funds to make his most dire of demands a reality. Below is another snap of Alex shaking hands with Director of Football Leonardo.
Look, I know Andre had his thoughts on Alex, and deemed him surplus to requirements. But that doesn't change the fact, in my eyes, that he was a loyal servant to the Blue kit, played his socks of when asked, and knocked in the occasional 30-yard screamer. He was imperious at times, lumbering at others. He was congenial, he was aggressive, and altogether a model professional. When ostracized to the reserves, he made nary a negative comment in the press. It's a shame it had to end this way, with expectations on his matriculation so high that we sold Riccy to Real Madrid for pennies on the dollar to give him a chance. While it's always unfortunate to see a player leave, I can say that it's with both club and player's best interests in mind that this parting of ways takes place.
Alex, take care big fella. Sucks it didn't work out here- but we'll always have that double. We'll always have that double. Carefree.
