So it sounds like the Alex to Queens Park Rangers rumours have died down a little bit,but that's ok for the transfer-listed defender, because Paris Saint-Germain is apparently going to get involved. The Guardian, who mention the prospect of the Brazlian centre back moving to Ligue 1 in an article chock full of speculation about how long Frank Lampard will be injured for some reason, have the following to say about the current state of affairs:
Alex, the transfer-listed Brazil defender who was close to moving to QPR last week, is now expected to join the former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Paris St Germain with talks on-going between the clubs. The 29-year-old had been reluctant to move to Loftus Road despite being marginalised at Stamford Bridge, but has expressed a willingness to move to the French club, a rising powerhouse in European football backed by Qatari Sports Investments.
I might have missed something in the last few days because I've been a) trapped in a snowstorm and b) flooded, but the actual (rather than hypothetical) involvement of PSG is news to me. It's also very good news, because they're a not a domestic rival and they have a lot more money lying around than QPR do. With Gary Cahill on the roster Chelsea have basically no leverage here, and so it'd be better not to deal with the likes of our friends at Loftus Road.
