Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Alex In Talks With QPR

Getty Images

The Alex to Queens Park Rangers rumours are heating up with the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle claiming that Chelsea have given their blessing for the Brazilian centre half to open talks with his potential new club. The latest reports had QPR offering £3.5M for the defender, which seems low to me, but if Alex is being allowed to negotiate the Blues must be ok with the figure.

Now that Cahill is all signed I find myself more or less indifferent to Alex's fate - he's been replaced with an equivalent home-grown player and I can understand Chelsea letting him go for a cut-price rate. I do wonder, though, whether he'll actually end up at QPR. Blackburn Rovers skipper Chris Samba has just handed in a transfer request and he's heavily linked with a move to Loftus Road to link up with former manager Mark Hughes, and that's something that would make more sense than Chelsea selling at a cut-price rate to a local 'rival'. Still, it's possible that at this point the club's just taking whatever they can get. I wouldn't really blame them, but more money would always be better.
