I know many of you are big Davide Santon fans (especially Steve, who profiled Santon here and showered him with love), but it looks like Newcastle United are almost certain to land the Inter Milan right back for a relatively paltry sum. I know this is the 'Sky Sports understands...' routine, but with the amount of information implying that the 20-year-old is indeed on his way to Newcastle, it's probably best to take this as legit:

So, there'll be no hijacking of the deal from Chelsea, which is fantastic news for Newcastle and their fans - congratulations to Coming Home Newcastle for apparently getting a very fine player on the cheap. I have to admit I am a little skeptical about how Santon would have fit in at Chelsea, especially with Jose Bosingwa magically turning into a good player again, but I don't have any doubt that Santon is good enough to start for Alan Pardew's side right now - and that he'll make them a small fortune if he moves on in a few years. His Serie A performances last year weren't particularly impressive

Anyway, that's one potential right-back off the list, but with Gregory van der Wiel and Samuel Inkoom still theoretically in play, this hardly precludes the Blues from getting younger there. We haven't heard and rumours of either for a little while, though - I wonder what Chelsea are planning here.
