Yossi's out - and more shake-ups before the transfer window closes

Yossi Benayoun has confirmed on his Twitter account that he'll be the next out of Stamford Bridge - considering he wasn't even on the bench on Saturday and neither was Kalou, is the Ivorian the next out the door?

The transfer window closes this week, and it looks like Chelsea definitely aren't done fishing around for players or sending them out to new clubs. Benayoun, after an injury-plagued career at the Blues, told a follower on his Twitter that yes, he is leaving. A shame, but understandable. I do honestly think, though, that if he hadn't been injured during those disastrous winter months last season, we could have picked up a few more points. So long, Yossi!

More rumors are of course circulating wildly with the impending close of the transfer window. We are apparently still pursuing Luka Modric (it's getting out of hand - can we put a bid in for Adam Johnson instead?), and let's just hope this doesn't turn into another last-minute deadline day Robinho saga where we miss out on the player we want/need.

Despite Jose Bosingwa's bright start to the season, Dutch media suggest we going to sign 23-year-old right-back Gregory Van der Wiel from Ajax. We heard about this toward the end of last season and then the rumor disappeared for the past couple months. He seems to be similar to Bos in that his quality is more in being an attacking full-back rather than defending.

Porto's Alvaro Perreira is another alleged new Blues signing. Another defender, another full-back. AVB has claimed that he does not feel confident the signing will go through, but we know never to believe managers when they say such things, right?

As for those out the door, I haven't seen any rumors about Kalou yet, but he was not on the bench at the weekend and we do have a surplus of strikers, especially now that Sturridge is available for selection again, so I don't think anyone would be surprised to see him included in a deal for another player. And, in a surprise, Arsenal are supposedly interested in trying to stop their leaky defense with our rocket-footed Brazilian defender. Say it ain't so, Alex!

One positive about these transfer rumors - we seem to be going for younger players and thinking towards the future. Both Mata's and Lukaku's appearances at the weekend have me excited and eager to see more of what our younger, hungry players can do.
