Petr Cech is reportedly out of action for 3-4 weeks

According to several reports out of London, Petr Cech picked up an injury to his medial knee ligament in training today which will see him out of action for the next three to four weeks.  This is pretty bad news for Blues fans, as beyond Cech our depth is pretty mediocre.  This probably means that we'll be looking at either Henrique Hilario or Ross Turnbull for the next several fixtures.  The good news for us is that if this timetable is accurate, Cech would likely be returning just in time to face Manchester United on 9/18.  Between now and then we have fixtures against WBA, Norwich, and Sunderland.  I'm sure we'll hear more on this in the coming hours and days, but keep your fingers crossed that this isn't serious.

I'm sure we'll start to hear calls from fans to recall Thibaut Courtois from his loan to Madrid.  I think it would be a good idea to throw some icy water on that one before it gets started.  Courtois shows a lot of promise, but he hasn't had any work with our defenders as of yet so he'd likely be a step back at the moment from either Turnbull or Hilario.  If Cech was done for the year, a recall might be in order.  Calling him back for three games just doesn't make any sense.  Either way, get well soon Petr.
