Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea FC are showing an interest in right back Samuel Inkoom. Inkoom was in England this week with the Ghana national team in preparation for their friendly against Nigeria (which was postponed until October). Sky Sports caught up with Inkoom and asked him about the link to Chelsea, and Inkoom had the following to say:
To be honest, the day I heard Chelsea were interested in me I was very happy. Who would not like to be linked with such a big club with world class players? It is a dream club for any player, specifically for young African players like me. Hopefully it will happen.
Inkoom hasn't been treated well since arriving in the Ukraine this January. He's been the subject of large amounts of racial heckling, even at his home stadium. He's had objects repeatedly thrown at him while on the sidelines, and as a fullback he's there often taking throws. He's also had his house broken into and vandalized while his club was traveling to a match. Largely because of this, Dnipro seem very willing to let him move on this summer for a very reasonable price. There is still quite a ways to go here as the club has yet to actually make an offer, but hearing Inkoom confirm he'd love to come here is excellent news. Please make this happen soon, I really would love to have a reliable right back this season.
