I bet you were all expecting Adrian Mutu news. Right? Right! Wrong? Oh. Well, if you'll recall, Adrian Mutu was quite a good striker who had a little problem with nose candy and thus was fired by Chelsea and subsequently sued for his rather hefty transfer fee. He isn't looked on with much fondness by Chelsea fans.

After taking the case through the courts, Mutu owes Chelsea around €17m, which is rather a lot of money. He doesn't have it, and Chelsea want it, so they're suing everyone else who was possibly involved too. I missed them going after Juventus (where Mutu played post-Chelsea) last week, but fortunately the lawyers in Turin pay more attention to this sort of thing than I do, and have responded:

Juventus Football Club S.p.A. hereby give notice that the notification procedure for their own defence in connection with the compensation for damages forwarded last week by Chelsea FC and related to Adrian Mutu’s contract has been activated with the competent sporting justice bodies.

I have no idea how much damages the Blues are seeking or why they even think they have a case, but if Juventus' lawyers are anything like Milos Krasic they'll turn up in the best suits money can buy, look like the sort of people Homer would write about*, sachet through the room with aplomb, and then pass out in a chair and leave us owning the Stadio Olympico. Actually, now that I think about it, this could just be a hilarious way to acquire Andrea Pirlo.

*The hot ones, anyway.
