Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Hulk's Agent Denies Contact With Chelsea

Agent Teodoro Fonseca has come out as saying that all rumours of FC Porto's Brazilian forward Hulk being involved in negotiations to move to Chelsea are false. That was quite an odd thing to do, because up until now I hadn't even heard any rumours of Hulk being involved in negotiations to move to Chelsea. And now I have, even if Fonseca is describing them as lies. Strange.

Anyway, here's exactly what he said:

We have not received any proposals and have not even been contacted by any club. Everything that's been written about a potential move is nothing but lies.

Hulk makes a lot of sense for Chelsea, where he'd be a better-than-perfect replacement for Nicolas Anelka on the right side of the Blues' attack. Unfortunately, he's also the Porto player with by far the highest release clause in his contract. It's set at 100M, more than three times Radamel Falcao's buyout price. Any attempt to purchase Hulk will have to be negotiated with Porto, which seems unlikely to go particularly well.

It is interesting, though, that Fonseca didn't note that a move was impossible, just that no contact had been made. Considering his success under Andre Villas-Boas, I wouldn't be surprised if Hulk did want to move on - but I'd also expect Porto to fight to the death to keep him.
