Well then, this is interesting. According to Matt Lewis of the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle, Chelsea target Neymar is either on the verge or moving or has already moved to Real Madrid. It's a shocking turn of events after we'd all been assured that the Brazilian would be coming to Chelsea, but there was always the risk that someone would swoop in and sign him if the Blues didn't finish the deal.
So it sounds like #Chelsea target Neymar has joined #realmadrid.
The Neymar deal is reportedly a 5-year contract worth €2million a year.
Is this a huge deal? Well, yeah, it would be, if it's true, and the veracity of these rumours are currently in question*, so if you were a huge proponent of Neymar moving to Chelsea then there's hope for you yet. However, if he is indeed a Real player now, the Blues will have to switch tack with their transfer targets - it would leave Udinese's Alexis Sanchez, for whom Chelsea have already bid €27M, as the undisputed top wide forward on the market.
*Especially the money - that's a really low sum for Neymar, and would represent a 35%(ish) paycut.
Personally, I'd have always preferred Sanchez to Neymar, but I'd have been happy with either one. Neymar coming off the market, then, is hardly a desirable thing, even with there being doubts about his mentality and ability to adjust to the Premier League. Anyway, we'll have more when we can get some confirmation.
