There's nothing particularly clear-cut or quotable here but Chelsea are being linked with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric an awful lot of late. Modric has said he wouldn't be particularly opposed to a transfer which benefits both himself and Spurs (and presumably his new team), and given his familiarity and general excellent in the Premier League he's naturally being linked to the biggest teams with any sort of money - Chelsea and Manchester United.
I mentioned in a previous piece that a midfield creator should be considered a luxury and not a priority, and that does apply to Modric, but he's an excellent player and would bridge the gap nicely between now and whenever Josh McEachran breaks into the first team for good. I don't think we'll end up with him, considering how much greater United's need for a central midfielder is, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it. What do you all think?
