Frank Arnesen is heading to Bundesliga side HSV, and he's probably got some pet projects he wants to take with him. He was reported to be particularly interested in bringing in a defender from Chelsea, and that defender turns out to be on-loan Wolverhampton man Michael Mancienne, which would be a not-very-big-at-all loss if he does go.
Apparently he's very very close to the move, which would be worth around €3.5M. With David Luiz in the squad Chelsea aren't in nearly as much trouble in terms of centre back depth as they were last season (and will be in even better shape if Ajax right back Gregory van der Wiel moves to Stamford Bridge as expected), so Mancienne is amazingly expendable.
He's never really shown any ability to compete at the sort of level Chelsea will need out of him, so it's probably for the best to allow him to move on and shape his career elsewhere. If the rumours are true, good luck to Michael, and I hope he does superbly in Germany.
