Amidst all of the pleading for Ryan Bertrand to get some time ahead of Ashley Cole in the last few games of the season, people seem to have forgotten about the presence of another superb young left back in the organisation. Patrick van Aanholt spent half the season on loan at Leicester, did a wonderful job there (when not injured), and has been rewarded with a new four-year contract:

Great news. Van Aanholt is a particular favourite of mine, and while he still has a ways to go in terms of his defensive abilities and decision making, he's already an unholy terror when he bombs up the left side. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops - maybe we'll end up with an entirely Dutch fullback pairing before too long, eh?
