Ashley Cole Named to PFA Team Of The Year

Chelsea left back Ashley Cole has been named to the PFA Team of the Year and is the only Chelsea representative in the squad, which is apparently voted on by the players themselves. Since Premier League players are well known to have absolutely dizzying intellects, we can safely assume that there's a good reason why they'd want to pick a 4-4-2 with Jack Wilshere and Samir Nasri in the middle*.

Anyway, I'd get all uppity about there only being one player from a team that could finish second in the league with the best defensive record out of anyone, but I'm not even convinced Cole deserves the selection, let alone anyone else. The only other players on Chelsea who could possibly make a case for selection are Petr Cech and John Terry, and it's hard to make an entirely convincing case for them over Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic anyway. But hey if you want to get upset, go ahead and feel free. I won't stop you.

Here's the full team: Edwin van der Sar; Ashley Cole, Nemanja Vidic, Vincent Kompany, Bacary Sagna; Gareth Bale, Jack Wilshere, Samir Nasri, Nani; Carlos Tevez, Dimitar Berbatov.

That's a grand total of zero players from outside the top five, if you were counting. And just in case you hadn't heard yet, Gareth Bale won Player of the year and Jack Wilshere won Young Player of the Year. Exciting, yes?
