Chelsea FC Transfer News: Sam Walker To Barnet On Loan

Because it had been far too long since our last transfer news of any note... Chelsea decided to prolong things by not doing anything important. What they did do, though, was send out 19 year-old goalkeeper Sam Walker to Barnet, who are very close to crashing out of the Football League together thanks to being in 23rd place in League Two. While I can't imagine that borrowing a reserve reserve goalkeeper will make too much difference to Barnet's fate, 64 goals conceded in 38 games probably means that new Bees manager Martin Allen has to try something, and Walker was it.

So, for Walker this means being dropped straight into a relegation battle and I'd have to imagine he'd be given a chance to get some starts under his belt. Edit: According to commenter DPeezy it would be hard not to give Walker a start on account of the rest of their goalkeepers having a series of gruesome injuries. It's always important to see how players (especially goalkeepers) do under pressure and hopefully Walker can succeed in keeping Barnet out of the conference.
