Contrary to reports in the Telegraph that Chelsea had come to an agreement with RC Genk for Belgian youngster Kevin de Bruyne, well, they haven't. The story always seemed a little dodgy, and the quoted price of €3.5M when a €6M bid had already been turned down was frankly bizarre. Now we have a little more clarity on whether or not a deal has been done, courtesy of de Bruyne's agent:
I have been told that in the UK it is being reported that a deal for £4million had been done, but this is ridiculous. Firstly why would Genk accept £4million when they have already turned more than that down, and we are not in talks with anyone so how could something be agreed?

So, that's pretty clear then. Chelsea aren't talking to RC Genk or de Bruyne, which means that they haven't made a deal for him. Rather simple, really. However, there's probably some sort of interest from the club that managed to get inflated in typical Telegraph fashion, so keep his name in mind as a potential target down the road. Just don't expect him to be bundled off to Cobham by way of Vitesse any time soon.
