Chelsea have been handed a relatively kind draw for the third round of the FA Cup, picking up Championship side Portsmouth in a repeat of the 2009/10 final. Pompey were already falling on hard times when Chelsea pipped them to the trophy that season, and now they're sitting in 18th place in the second tier, so it's difficult to imagine the Blues having a problem when the two sides meet up in January.
The draw could have been kinder, of course (Everton ended up with Tamworth and lucky Swindon managed to draw Wigan Athletic) but it also could have been a lot worse - the Manchester teams managed to get drawn against one another in the most compelling third round tie I can remember seeing. That match is at the Etihad Stadium, so I think we can probably rest assured that Manchester United won't be progressing any farther than we will this season.
