Reports: Gael Kakuta to join Dijon on loan

If the Daily Mail is to be believed (and it usually isn't), Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta will be heading to France this spring to get some more seasoning. According to reports (and it's been rumored for a few days now), Kakuta will be joining Dijon FCO at the expiration of his loan deal at Bolton January 1st. This deal makes some sense for the native Frenchman as it will provide him some first team experience at a level somewhere between the Championship and the Premier League levels. Chelsea also have a bit of a connection with the club which is partially owned by Florent Malouda and employs both Malouda and Drogba's younger siblings.

I really had high hopes for Kakuta at Bolton, but unfortunately he was only able to find the field 4 times for the club. He's been about a year now since he had a string of impressive displays at any level, so hopefully consistent playing time will allow us to see flashes of his potential again. At Dijon he's likely to feature in a central attacking midfield role, something which I feel suits him better than traditional wing play. Dijon are currently sitting just clear of the relegation zone but have been playing a very wide open style in general. All in all, I'd say this is just about as good a move as the club could make with Kakuta at this juncture. This might also give some of you an excuse to watch Ben Corgnet, a player who we've reportedly been scouting for a bit now. We'll let you know when the club confirms it, but this report does appear to be legitimate. Now to deal with Patrick van Aanholt...
