Chelsea FC Loan Roundup: 12/9/11

Another week down, and not much has changed with the youngsters we've sent out on loan. Conor Clifford had his loan extended until January meaning the youngster will likely continue to see regular action throughout the next month. Decision time is coming on Gael Kakuta as his loan expires at the end of the month. Patrick van Aanholt is slated to remain at Wigan for the remainder of the season, but I can't imagine he remains if they don't begin using him. So let's take a look at the last week and see who did what.

• Thibaut Courtois - Courtois had an early exit against Real Madrid two weeks ago due to a straight red card for taking out Karim Benzema, so he subsequently sat out this past weekend while being suspended. He'll also have the Europa League draw to look forward to, as Atletico have advanced to the round of 32 (which now includes the two Manchester clubs). How much fun would it be to see Atletico drawn against United so they can see how much better our young keeper is than theirs...
• Sam Walker - Sam had a welcome weekend off after the beating he's been taking lately. Northampton next faces Crewe Alexandria on Saturday after two weeks to try to get their defense together.
• Matej Delac - Delac continued on as the backup keeper at his temporary home. There is no word yeton how he's been looking, but the lack of action really highlights the dangers of signing young keepers who can't get a work permit in England if need be. I can't imagine being second choice in the Czech Republic is going to help in Delac's attempt to gain a work permit, so hopefully Chelsea have some sort of plan in place going forward. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he's used as a makeweight in a deal soon.

• Gael Kakuta - Kakuta was again an unused sub against Tottenham as Bolton again had an early red card mangle their game plan. Aston Villa seems like a game where he might be able to get involved if the Wanderers can avoid getting anybody sent off ten minutes in. It will be interesting to see how he's used this month, that should go a long way to determining what to do with him in January.
• Patrick van Aanholt - PvA was again missing in action against Arsenal. Chelsea can't recall him soon enough for my liking, Wigan have done an absolutely terrible job in his handling.
• Jeffrey Bruma - Bruma was solid again in Hamburg's 2-0 victory against Nurnberg, although he went off shortly after the halftime break with a slight shoulder injury. It doesn't appear too serious, but there is no word yet if he'll be in action tomorrow.
