Jose Mourinho has done Chelsea plenty of favours. This is not one of them. If you'll recall, Chelsea were in for then Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon during the winter transfer window, with a view to take the 23-year-old on loan. Leon, now on loan at Getafe, was part of Madrid's quest to bring in a bunch of young Spanish talent and never play them at all (see Canales, Sergio). Oh, and he wanted to join Chelsea:
Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and of course I was excited about the possibility [of a loan deal].
[Jose Mourinho] gave me his opinion and told me he would not let me go and he told me I would not play much in London. But my opinion is that Chelsea's coach [then] was Carlo Ancelotti, not him.

So yeah. Thanks for that, Jose. It's not like the Blues were in desperate need of natural width or anything. No siree, Pedro Leon wouldn't have helped at all! And it's not like Real Madrid didn't then turn around and loan him to Getafe the summer afterwards. Sigh.
