The club has just announced that Fernando Torres has officially joined Chelsea FC today. He just finalized a new 5 1/2 year deal with the club, finally sealing his move from Liverpool. The media has been running rampant with this story for several days, and we've heard all sorts of variations on the price and players involved in the deal. The rumored fee is believed to be a whopping 50 million pounds, but that almost seems like a bargain when compared to the fees just received for Darren Bent and Andy Carroll. While his price was steep, the club manged to keep all of it's players for the second half run.
Chelsea fans can now rest assured that we've signed the eventual replacement for Didier Drogba, ensuring that the club will still be running out one of the worlds top strikers for the foreseeable future. Let's just hope he and Drogba click quickly, because if they do we have a legitimate chance in every competition we're still competing in. Welcome to London El Nino. Whatever fans think of your cost, we'll all be thrilled to see you take the pitch in Chelsea Blue.
Graham's note: Here's the tweet confirming...
