Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: David Luiz Deal Done Per A Bola

A Bola are the most reputable source in Portugal, so when they something we'd do well to listen. In this case, they've said something along the lines of this:

O Chelsea já garantiu a contratação de David Luiz. Tratou-se de uma operação relâmpago dos blues de Inglaterra e o defesa central de 23 anos já estará a preparar a viagem para Londres.

O defesa-central brasileiro deverá chegar ainda esta noite a Inglaterra para cumprir uma nova fase da carreira.

Which is good news for lovers of David Luiz because when you google translate that it means...

Chelsea have secured the signing of David Luiz. It was an overnight operation of the blues and England central defender for 23 years is already preparing to travel to London. The Brazilian central defender will arrive tonight to England to meet a new phase of his career.

Obviously not too coherent, but the meaning is clear. Luiz is set to cost the club €20M up front as well as central midfielder Nemanja Matic at the end of the season. Matic is currently on loan at Eredivisie side Vitisse, where he's excelled in a holding role (profiled here). A further €5M is on the cards for Benfica should Luiz perform as expected. If that sounds remarkably like the deal Benfica walked away from earlier this week, that's because it is - it appears that Chelsea's offer wasn't bettered and they were forced to sell Luiz at Chelsea's price.

Things aren't confirmed by Chelsea just yet, but that should be just around the corner. Get ready to be very happy indeed. Sideshow Jesus is coming to town.
