Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Gael Kakuta, Patrick van Aanholt Loan Deals Imminent

Obviously, the David Luiz transfer story is the biggest one we're following right now, but there's other news to be had today, and sometimes you have to go from a Homerian epic to a little sonnet. Sky Sports reported earlier this morning that young left back Patrick van Aanholt is on course to head to Sven-Göran Eriksson's Leicester City, and during the Chelsea reserve match against Arsenal today (the Blues are currently down 1-0 to a Carlos Vela penalty), commentator Neil Bath mentioned that the Dutch 19 year-old wasn't just going out on loan, but had actually already gone, although he didn't specify where. I'm going to put two and two together here and assume that van Aanholt is heading down to the Championship for the remainder of the season. Note: Two plus two is traditionally equal to four and not 'Leicester', but we'll go with it.

We've got more solid information regarding winger Gael Kakuta, who is currently taking a medical down the road at Fulham. Kakuta has just signed a contract extension with Chelsea, committing his long term future to the team, but it was clear from his play - flashes of genius on the ball combined with poor decision and slow reactions - that some more first team experience was required to hone his game. Being sent to Fulham, who currently have a striking lack of talented attacking players, means that Kakuta will probably get more than a few starts in the Premier League between now and May, which should prove very useful for both player and Chelsea in the long run.
