Injury bonanza continues at the Bridge

More pleasantness on the injury front.

Ricky Carvalho has been ruled out for at least four weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage early in the first half of Wednesday's win at Fratton Park. Whether surgery will be required is still to be determined.

That leaves us with two recognized center halves - Alex, Brave John Terry - and three veteran fullbacks - Belletti, Zhirkov, Ferreira. I guess we're about to see much more of our young Dutch connex: Bruma and Van Aanholt, who both have impressed in very limited time this season for the senior side.

Drogba also seems to have picked up a knock, to his knee, against Portsmouth. He says he should be fit for the weekend. He also believes Chelsea must push on despite the growing list of injuries, which is not unlike recent seasons anyway.

"It's difficult when you are playing so many games for all the team to be on top of our shape and fitness," Drogba said. "Now we have a lot of injuries, especially to our defensive line. We're going to miss Ricardo, Ivanovic, Ashley, Bosingwa, so many. But I think we are doing a great season even without our players."

Let's take a look at how our injury list is staking up one more time. It's lovely.

Done for the season
Jose Bosingwa, knee

Likely out for the season
Ashley Cole, ankle
Michael Essien, knee (according to Independent)

Four-plus weeks
Branislav Ivanovic, knee
Ricardo Carvalho, ankle

Two-plus weeks
Hilario, groin
