As Chelsea Offside reader ASR so succinctly put it: S***.
Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, just recently recovered from a torn hamstring, appears to have suffered a potentially serious knee injuring during training with the Ghana national team on Sunday. Reports suggest the injury is independent of his last major injury, a torn ACL.
"Michael was turning to make a pass when he just went down," midfielder Anthony Annan told BBC Sport. "There was no contact from any other player but those around him say they heard a click, and then the physios rushed over."
No contact? Double s***.
Essien has already had a scan on the knee, with results expected on Monday. You can bet Chelsea will be monitoring the situation closely.
