A quick word on the Barnsley result -- and I mean quick. Congrats to those guys; they were hungrier and better on the day, thoroughly deserving their victory. I hope they win the whole damn competition. Grant and SWP to Greenland.
Now, on with the say say.
A host of media outlets are reporting that Chelsea is planning a wholesale in the summer, with as many as 10 players moving on from the club. Among those on their way out would be two who have been linked with a move -- Drogba and Lampard. Roman has supposedly already given the green light to sell them both (say word?). Others facing the axe include, shockingly, Sheva, Malouda (good riddance) and the three free summer transvestites -- that's not right.
Offside commenter AL pointed out a rumor in which Sidwell moves to West Ham. This is all true because the Daily Mirror says so. And, it's fine by me; at least we'll recoup some of Sid's salary with that 50-pound transfer.
It was also revealed that Chelsea has had a €10 million offer for Villareal defender Martin Caceres rejected. Currently on loan at Recreativo, the 20-year old Uruguayan has excelled since moving to Huelva. He's been evaluated at 15.2 million euros. I know Arsenal have scouted this kid, so he has to be amazing right? There's clearly a surplus of central defenders already at the Bridge, so something has to give here.
But hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we start with finding, then inking, a new manager? Good.
