Shaun Wright-Phillips, Harley Davidson's and Guatemala

Earlier this evening I was sitting on the sofa trying to come up with The Offside way of trying to write a match preview for the home game against Portsmouth on Saturday when I heard on the telly at the start of the local news programme 'three words' - Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Looking up, paying attention and waiting in earnest for the feature, our Shaunie along with his Dad Ian, Wayne Bridge, Mark Bright and Mitchell Thomas are undertaking a road trip on Sunday from London's Kings Road to Southamption via Madeira Way in Brighton on Harley Davidson bikes and trikes!

I know that Shaunie owns a Harley Davidson trike and Ian owns a Harley too (but I am not too sure whether its a bike or trike). Why is this happening?

Whats is all about and why? Well Shaunie filmed a documentary recently in Guatemala and became so overwhelmed by the plight and suffering of Guatemalan children that he wanted to bring the world's attention to their troubles in conjunction with the registered charity Education for the Children.

So on Sunday morning at 9am UK time Shaun and his four other companions will set off from the Warrs Harley-Davidson dealership in Chelsea's Kings Road and travel to Warrs in Southampton via Brighton. There is good news for some lucky person (if that person acts quickly enough). There is a SIXTH place available for a lucky competition winner to join in and ride a Harley-Davidson for the day. To enter, click here.

I just wish I could ride a bike 'cos I would have entered the competition in a heartbeat. Harley Davidson's have been a passion of mine for many a year (its the shiny chrome you know) - Harley's personify the need for speed, the easy rider and the macho image in all of us.

I would love to own a Harley, I would love to be able to afford to own a Harley and if I did I can then fulfil an ambition of mine - a solo trip on a Harley across America.

Here's to ambitions, here's to dreams, here's to Shaun and the Guatemalan Children!!!

Condolences are offered to the friends and family of Gerry Tobin who was murdered recently on his way back home from a biker's festival weekend in Staffordshire.
