Brondby 0-2 Chelsea RESULT

brondby.png

To update proceedings from below, Chelsea were a far better team in the second half against Brondby and they were truly inspired by the second-half appearance of Joe Cole who again looked like he had the 'free' role, caused Brondby all sorts of problems.

Sporting a brand new haircut, Joey was sporting the form he had before he got injured against the MLS All-Stars last year - remember?

Joey had a thirty yard free-kick wonderfully saved by Brondby's keeper who came on as a substitute for the unlucky Andersen (who was replaced soon after Chelsea went 1-0 up), from the resulting corner, he saved brilliantly saved again from a Pizarro header.

It took Chelsea 62mins to break the deadlock and when the goal came, there was a hint of controversy about it. Glenn Johnson sent over a high hanging cross from Chelsea's right, Didier challenged Andersen and just about headed the ball into the net before the ball dropped into Andersen's hands. At first it looked like a foul would be given, but the goal stood instead.

Didier's second came from a sweet move which was started by Joey who ran through the heart of the Brondby midfield, he fed the ball out to Drogba who flicked it back inside to Pizarro who then read Dids forward intentions and flicked the ball back, for Didier to hammer a fine 20 yard shot from the right diagonal of the area to put Chelsea 2-0 up.

It was a better second-half performance, probably the best display of any of the pre-season games played thus far.

Fortunately for Chelsea fans, Dids has found his scoring touch, just in time for the Community Shield, on Sunday, and the start of the season in just eleven days time.

I had hope to LIVE Blog Brondby v Chelsea tonight but due to circumstances beyond my control as I anticipated in a post last night, I am unable to do so.

What I can give you is that the half-time score is BRONDBY 0-0 CHELSEA.

It is a poor game, it is a poor Chelsea performance. Play like this against Man Utd in Sunday's Community Shield and we will get battered. Play like this against ANY Premiership team and we WILL get battered.

The performance tonight is poor. There is NO cutting edge up front. Drogba, Pizarro (who came on as a sub in the 30th min for Mikel, who by his recent standards had a poor game). The service is just not there.
