When Chelsea kicked off their USA tour last weekend against Club America I really didn't know what to expect (as Club America was an unknown quantity to me) and when Chelsea went 1-0 behind as early as the third minute I admit I was fearing the worse!!
Against the Bluewings during Tuesday night or Wednesday morning depending whether you reside in the US or the UK, I expected Chelsea to win and win they did. However remembering how tight our last match was a couple of years ago in Korea, this game proved to be exactly the opposite. Although Chelsea won with a solitary Didier Drogba goal, made by a cute Shaun Wright-Phillips chip, had Chelsea won 5, 6, 7 or by 8 goals there will have be no complaints from anybody only joy!!
Tonight against the Galaxy minus the ex-England captain David Beckham, I can only see a Sunday morning pub league type score to Chelsea or a Wimbledon-esque 1-0 shock FA Cup Final score against Liverpool score back in the 80's, to the Galaxy.
Should David Beckham make an appearance in the latter stages of tonight's game, Jose Mourinho has promised Beckham a free ride - unless David sends one of his wicked crosses over and a 'lucky' Galaxy forward gets on it and gives Galaxy the win!!!!!
From a Chelsea point of view. Ashley Cole is not ready yet, nor is Ballack. Wayne Bridge is far from ready after undergoing hip surgery in the week in Colorado. Pizzaro is waiting to join up with his new team mates on Monday at Chelsea's training ground in Cobham.
After tonight's game the squad leave for London almost immediately - to prepare for a couple of difficult games in Holland and Scotland. Details to follow nearer the time.
As for tonight's action. LA Galaxy v Chelsea is being played at the Home Depot Center, Carson City, California and is a 27,000 capacity sell-out. The game kicks off 6pm (local time), 2am (UK time) and if you can't follow the action on TV, follow the action here later...... as I will do my best to live blog!
