As Chelsea meet LA Galaxy this weekend and in keeping with the previous formulas of the last two What Do You Knows? - Club America and Suwon Samsung Bluewings, here is the last What Do You Know? about LA Galaxy.

The game at the Home Depot Center kicks off 6pm (local time) or 2am (UK time) and almost straight after the game, the squad will leave Los Angeles and fly back to London, ready for training on Monday.

Next week Chelsea have two more 'friendlies' scheduled against Feyernoord (Holland) on Wednesday and Glasgow Rangers (Scotland) on Saturday.

So What Do You Know about LA Galaxy?

LA Galaxy have been in the news consistently since they announced the signing of David Beckham from Real Madrid. Beckham finally won his La Liga title with Madrid after a frustrating season and constant battles with coach Capello. In the same season Beckham was recalled to the England team and how the English rejoiced.

Now that Mr B has travelled to LA, how will he fair for England now and will he gain the 'unofficial title' of Commuter of the Year? Anyway enough of Beckham this is about LA Galaxy, but without Beckham would we have any interest?

The Galaxy was formed in 1995 and like the Bluewings, Galaxy are a young sibling club in terms professional football. LA's ground is the Home Depot Center, Carson City, California and they share the facilities with rival MLS club, Chivas USA. Coach is Frank Yallop and club owners are AEG who funded the mega mega million dollar/pound signing of Beckham.

Galaxy's first game was against the Metrostars in 1996 at the Rose Bowl which Galaxy won 2-1, in 1998 Galaxy recorded their biggest win by beating Dallas Burn 8-1 at the Cotton Bowl.

Metrostars got their revenge in 2002 where they inflicted Galaxy's heaviest defeat winning 5-0 at the Giants Stadium, New York.

Cobi Jones, former US International is Galaxy's all-time top scorer with 70 goals.

LA Galaxy's honours in their 12 year history include:

MLS Cup in 2002 and 2005
US Open Cup 2001 and 2005
Supporters Shield 1998 and 2002
CONCACAF Champions Cup 2000

Every club fans have their nicknames and LA Galaxy fans are no exception. Their fans nicknames include: Galaxians, LA Riot Squad, Ultimate Fan Organization and Galaxy Ambassadors.

As you can see lots of named references to outer space, I am wondering though if LA Galaxy are based on the film Galaxy Quest? Why? Well it is reported their mascot Cozmo is an extraterrestrial frog who was beamed down to The Home Depot Center from his intergalactic spaceship on June 7 2003.

No wonder coach Yallop and owner Lalas look 'spaced out.'

Famous Galaxians include:

David Beckham
Cobi Jones (cos I always remember his hairstyles)
Landon Donovan
Alexi Lalas
