Surprise, surprise, the Dani Alves special from the Mail last week is nothing more than the veteran wing-back cruising for a new contract. The 34-year-old who has defied many expectations this past season in terms of impact performances has one more year left on his deal at Juventus, but according to reports in the Brazilian media, such as this one from UOL, he wants another year tacked on to that.

To help him accomplish that, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and Spurs were name-dropped and garnished with supposed interest, but while Dani Alves would make for an intriguing option at right wing-back, those rumors seemed fanciful back then and certainly even more unrealistic now.
The report goes on to say that unlike last summer, when Dani Alves’ long-term stay at Barcelona ended in acrimony, he’s very comfortable and happy at Juventus. He just wants that extra year on his contract. Which he’ll probably get.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, this possibility was always a long-shot at best, so no big loss, but a wing-back signing will be expected in the next few weeks, so better get to it!
