There have been rumors making the rounds about Romelu Lukaku and Tottenham lately, and today Sky Sports are running with some quotes from the player's agent:
"I'm looking for a club for Romelu. And yes, I've talked to Daniel Levy once, but that doesn't mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs. That's not a talking point at this moment."
"There aren't 20 teams that can afford to buy Romelu. He won't go from Everton to, let's say, Swansea. There's also a difference between Everton that plays against relegation and an Everton that fights for European football."
Frankly, this is concerning. We know that Lukaku didn't react particularly well to Chelsea bringing in Samuel Eto'o this summer, and it sounds as if the player is planning to spend next season away from the club as well. Whether or not Chelsea are on board with this is still unclear, but I'd assume they're at least aware of what the player's agent is doing.
There's really no excuse for Lukaku to spend next season on loan, he's still very raw, but he's clearly a better player than either of Fernando Torres or Demba Ba. If the Blues aren't planning to sell him and reinvest those funds elsewhere, there is absolutely no reason for him to send the season anywhere else.
