Remember Jores Okore? The big, strong centre back that gave the Blues so much trouble when we went to Denmark? Well, so did Chelsea -- and the club apparently agreed terms for a deal with Nordsjaelland last January only for the player himself to turn us down over playing time concerns. That's despite him being a Chelsea supporter.
Although the details aren't important here and now, what matters is that now we know that the club are looking for another centre back, presumably one who fits the same sort of profile as Okore. That's young, physical, and talented, for those of you not fortunate enough to watch him in action last year. That we missed out on Okore himself isn't really a big deal, although I like him a lot -- we're presumably going to go hard after someone who fits that same sort of typing.
Maybe we'll go back in for Okore this summer, although I doubt it. He still needs some development time before he can regularly start for the club, and if he goes out on loan he wouldn't be able to help with the depth problem. But the likes of, say, Marquinhos or Eliaquim Mangala, would get regular playing time now while helping the squad -- and that's what Chelsea are looking for.
