Billy Clifford's lonely weekend at Colchester United has come to a quick end. The young Chelsea midfielder will be joined by another loanee at the League One club -- the Blues have just announced that 21-year-old goalkeeper Sam Walker will be sent to the U's for the remainder of the season following his six-month spell at Bristol Rovers.
It's a step up for the young goalkeeper, who make 13 appearances for the League Two Pirates following another successful loan spell at Yeovil Town at the end of last season, but it's still a long way off Chelsea level. Walker's neat and all, but he's six months older than Thibaut Courtois and has failed to establish himself as much of anything at this point.
Goalkeepers do need lots of time to develop, and it's great that Chelsea are finding him fun places to live on loan, but it's pretty difficult to see him as anything but a non-factor at the moment. But hey, it's definitely news.
