There’s a knock downstairs. Who could it be at this hour? Who still knocks? Can’t they just text?!
You get up with a huff, grab a personal safety device of choice because you never know these days, and walk to the door. As you peep out, you can see two frail, friendly fellas waving excitedly. Guess we know them?
You rip open the door and try to look imposing. Who the [FUN] are you two and what do you want? “But Dad!” cries the littler one. “You said we could always come back home,” adds the other one. “We’re back!” And he opens his arms wide. Ugh, hugs.
They haven’t changed a bit, it turns out. Davide went to Rome, got hurt, played a little during the Restart, then was sent away without his buy-option getting picked up. Kenedy went to Getafe, played a bit (27 appearances but less than 1000 minutes overall), then was sent away just the same. That actually happened over a month ago, but he took the scenic route to this mention.
Anyway, Davide Zappacosta, 28, and Kenedy, 24 are back with Chelsea (in spirit if not body), and without a team for next season. They both have two years left on their contracts.
