Michy Batshuayi’s social media exploits may have just birthed the next great nickname for a Chelsea player. During Monday’s 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough that put the Blues on the brink of winning another Premier League title, the striker tweeted out this astute observation of his teammate, Cesc Fabregas, after he set up Diego Costa for the first goal:
Bro Cesc is like Santa on a pitch

‘Santa Cesc’ was interviewed after the match by Sky Sports and was told about his prolific assists record of 10 assists in 11 league starts this season after setting up Nemanja Matic for the third and final goal. He quickly tried to correct them, thinking that he’d been awarded an assist on Costa’s opener and was told that he actually wasn’t due to a slight deflection by Fabio. His reaction of disbelief is hilarious:
He responded to the tragic news by saying “What?! No chance. That [his pass] was meant for Costa all day long. I’m taking this one.” — Come on, Dubious Goals Assists Panel ... Have some spirit and give Old St. Cesc his Assists joy back.
