Diego Costa has called Wednesday night’s match a six-pointer in the title race, with a Chelsea win basically making it a two-team race with Spurs the rest of the way, and a Chelsea loss blowing the race wide open and potentially reducing our lead at the top of the table to just four points with eight matches still to go.
While the situation may not be quite as dramatic — even a four-point lead is a fairly sizable lead — Chelsea’s run-in isn’t necessarily the easiest, especially when compared with Spurs’s. With that in mind, a win on Wednesday is sort-of, kind-of a must-win, more so emotionally and psychologically than for any other reason.
Antonio Conte had to shuffle his lineup around a bit on Saturday thanks to Victor Moses’s injury, and while Pedro filled in admirably, the Chelsea head coach would probably prefer to have his usual right wing-back available once again. There’s been no word yet on Moses’s status for Wednesday night just yet.
Choose wisely.
