Petr Cech's move to Arsenal from Chelsea earlier this season left many with a bitter taste in their mouths. But thankfully, the "treason" has apparently been forgotten by the fans and the ex-Chelsea goalkeeper himself joined the club's circle of trust despite being an outsider, showing how he has little to no qualms -- at least publicly -- to his former club.
Still, a narrative that simply won't refuse to die its miserable death is the one about tension between the two goalkeepers, something which Courtois himself has had to deny many times.
"In every interview last year it was about my relationship with [Petr] Cech. Apparently everyone thought we had blazing rows every day, it was just the opposite. Petr and I had a close relationship. Even now, we still call each other frequently."

While the relationship between Courtois and Cech probably isn't the same kind as, for example, Gerard Piqué and Cesc Fàbregas -- according to the Barcelona defender they used to share their clubs' starting eleven when he was at Manchester United and Fàbregas at Arsenal -- the two goalkeepers having a close relationship despite the media narrative shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
It makes sense to think that Thibaut Courtois actually looks up to Petr Cech more as a mentor rather than a mere rival. If anything, Courtois was simply a better goalkeeper (most importantly, with a much longer future) to the eyes of José Mourinho and the board, and Cech himself, having done the same thing in the past, might not have taken it lightly but handled it better than most.
