Jose...Actually, Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix, is perhaps one of the most polarizing figures in sports history, maybe even just plain history. Witty, genius, a sharp dresser, a master of mind games, arrogant - wait please don't call him arrogant - For he is quite simply "The Special One".
To begin, on this amazing Chelsea community and many other less intelligent sites I constantly see the arguments on Mourinho and his every word and move criticized, analyzed, and deconstructed to some insane yet entertaining opinions. I should say that I could not be happier to have him as our coach and I was ecstatic to have him back, and I will tell you why. You see dear friends, the man has no filter, he is incapable of being anything other than himself. He help set the bar, no wait actually he created the bar that we measure everything Chelsea of this modern day, and he did it his way and only his way. Now you may wish for more exciting football, something flashy? Yet, if you ask any great coach they will tell you that offense wins games, but defense wins championships, and Mourinho figured this out a long time ago.
Secondly, it would be pretty safe to say that the man told us what to expect this season, he did not sugar coat it or give us false delusions of grandeur. I think that we fans sometimes do not like hearing the truth, maybe we just were not good enough to do better than what we did...yeah I know it sucks. He is also a master of media manipulation, and he will always have the upper hand. In all honestly many times he deflects the blame to himself in order to keep his players focused and in a way protected. On the other hand, if he has to, he will most certainly call you out - to light the proverbial "fire under your ass" - Mou is always at least 2 steps ahead, try and catch up.
lastly, he is at the very least and at the end of it all one of us. Yes one of us. Nobody on god's green earth can argue that Mourinho does not love Chelsea, his passion is the same passion that we fans have and he tries to get that out of his players constantly. Tell me when you see him run down the sidelines like a madman tapping that glorious Chelsea crest over his heart, you don't agree with me. The man even threw his League medal into the crowd...they gave him another one so he threw it again!
To end I would just like to thank you if you took the time to read this, you may not agree with me but that's ok. I just feel that every club has a personality and Mourinho represents our passion so damn well. I truly believe that just like Sir Alex will be forever tied to Manchester United, that our Jose, "The Special One" could quite possibly be the same thing to this glorious club. Keep that beautiful blue flag flying high, high, high.
