A somewhat sloppy start has given way to mostly one-way traffic as Chelsea have battered the Stoke City goal with over a dozen shots. Some were even on target! And one even went in! No, not the one from Fernando Torres from three yards out.
Chelsea's goal came from a throw-in - A THROW-IN - and some wonderful attacking play by Nemanja Matic of all people. The big man drove to the byline and cut a seeing-eye ball back towards the penalty spot, finding Mohamed Salah. The jet-heeled one, in his first Chelsea start, made no mistake to zing it through Begovic and into the back of the net.
Salah has been fun to watch even beyond his goal, his speed causing plenty of headaches for Stoke's left back. His touch has let him down a couple times, though he's not alone in that regard. Willian has done a ton of work and Matic has been gloriously excellent in the middle.
So, 1-0 and fairly comfortable so far. Need another goal, as usual, to see this one out easily.
UP THE BLUES!
