Well I am a reasonable newbie, but I've kept an eye on rumours, and with the amount of them swirling around the 2 Brazilians Ramires and Luiz, I am not sure both of them will be around next season. Maybe one will (my choice between the 2 would be Luiz), but let's do a what-if analysis here, with all your help of course.
Strengths: Engine. Engine. Engine.
Weaknesses: Ball Passing. (Interestingly, any ideas why this has come more into focus in the latter part of the season? What is that he was doing/not doing better over the past 2 seasons and the first half of this season to be such a fan-hero?)
On-field discipline: For a player to be suspended for 7 games in a season, especially if you're not famed as an anger-head who otherwise contributes stupendously on field using that anger otherwise, is just not good enough. I am guessing Gennaro Gattuso comes to mind, although I must admit I'm not sure how good/bad his actual disciplinary record was.
Finishing ability, including headers: I might be incorrect, but this is an area where I think the chap has actually regressed this season. I recall seeing him pop in goals on the run from just outside the box, mostly 'shots' as opposed to delicious chips (like THE CHIP). This season, it seems he's managed to get a lot closer to goal on many more occasions, and yet, further and further away from actually scoring one. He just can't score, whether it be with his legs, head, waist, or any thing else whether he's standing or jumping or falling down (I'm looking at you, Demba.)
-Luiz Gustavo - He's a Brazilian first team midfielder, and was with Bayern till last season. And yes, he's definitely a DM. So what's the issue? Or is he just not 'good enough' for the best clubs?
- Morgan Schneiderlein/Victor Wanyama - Strong, proven EPL players, right?
-The Real Madrid 'swap' offer. As per some rumours, Real Madrid want Ramires, and are willing to offer money as well as a player on loan/swap. I don't know how our players on loan will like it if we start taking players from other clubs on loan, but hypothetically speaking, and taking it forward, which RM players (clearly players not getting their due or who will get displaced by Ramires) should we consider? My immediate money would be on Raphael Varane. He is incredible, although it won't be a like for like. Alternately, Luka Modric, the one who got away.
Other players from within Chelsea ranks - Nathan Ake?
Other external players - Pjanic? Vidal? Pogba? Imposible, Impossibler, Impossiblest?
